Personal Blog: Fitness Goals for 2016

Fitness Goals

One of my goals for 2016 is  to be healthier and one of the first steps on that list is to start working out regularly again. Due to some problems with my I have been having a lot of trouble working out and have to be careful not to push myself too far or risk aggravating it further. I am not really much of a gym person and don’t know enough people to be comfortable doing a organized sports team (it’s the introvert in me) so I prefer home workouts.

I have tried a few different DVDs but so far my favourites have been the ones available from Team Beachboy, specifically Les Mills  Combat. It has great music, entertaining instructors and actually holds my interest. I really enjoy learning fighting moves and it’s a good way to let you aggression out after having a crappy day. I also have the 21 Day Fix DVDs which are good for doing specific workouts such as upper and lower body. I am hoping through a mix of my DVDs, cardio, light weight training and yoga I will be able to do the following…

  1. Easily go up and down stairs without getting short of breath
  2. Strengthen my core and back muscles
  3. Lose 10 pounds
  4. Tone

I know they are not especially big goals but for me they would  make all the difference. I have given myself a 6 month timeline and will check back in periodically to see how I am doing and reset my goals at the end of 6 months.
